Ghost of Milton Walking Tour (Ghost Walk)
Once a year the ghosts of Milton’s past take to the streets to tell their grisly tales and share a little bit of the darker side of Milton’s history.
The Ghost of Milton Walking Tour (Ghost Walk) is a fun way to meet some of Milton’s most famous, and infamous, citizens. The one-mile walk winds through the streets of Milton’s historic district to 13 haunted locations with tour guides dressed in period costumes giving a ghostly guided tour through history. Each stop is haunted by real, live ghosts, who recreate scenes from their past. Perhaps they relate tales of woe, perhaps tales of foolishness, but all haunt the same area where they once walked in happier days past.
The event is now celebrating 12 years of scares and is a popular Halloween draw. About 2,000 people sign up for thrills and chills each year, drawn by the chance to learn the seedier side of Milton’s history, which has included everything from pirates and moonshiners to spirits from the Civil War. And it’s never the same frights twice! Each year new apparitions make an appearance.
The 2012 tours are October 27 and 28 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Historic Downtown Milton “Imogene Theatre.”
