The First Friday of each month
Downtown Milton First Friday offers music, fun for everyone
MILTON – Along with its regular mix of arts, crafts, classic cars, dining, and shopping, downtown Milton’s August First Friday will provide visitors opportunities to enjoy a museum open house as well as two complimentary concerts hosted by a local church and two local businesses. The First Friday celebration will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, on North Willing Street in downtown Milton.
This month’s free concerts offer something for everyone with a mixture of Southern Rock, Blues, Country, as well as Christian music at separate locations.
Held between 5 to 8 p.m., the evening’s first concert will feature a local band, Slow Burn, which will perform in front of Camelot Junction at 5243 North Willing St. The group performs a mix of Southern Rock, Blues, and Country. This concert is sponsored by Tracy’s Liberty Café and Camelot Junction.
From 7 to 8 p.m., a guest choir from Deliverance Tabernacle Christian Center of Milton will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of Milton in its historic sanctuary at 5203 Elmira St. This concert is held as a part of the church’s First Friday feat and is located one block west of Willing Street.
The Santa Rosa Historical Society will also host an open house to display its temporary museum space on Willing Street. The museum closed after suffering fire damage in 2009. The museum plans to open with exhibits in October. Plans for renovations and addition of Imogene Theater will be display.
In addition to arts, crafts, shopping, and strolling throughout downtown, local restaurants host a variety of live music on Friday nights. The Blackwater Bistro, The Mainstreet Café, Tracy’s Liberty Café, and the Old Post Office Piano Bar offer a variety of music and weekly dinner specials. While downtown, visitors can also enjoy shopping at various businesses, as well as visiting the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial and the Downtown Riverwalk Park.
Downtown Milton’s First Friday celebration is hosted by the nonprofit revitalization group Main Street Milton with support from the City of Milton. All activities are free and open to the public. Children’s activities are provided at no charge. Donations are appreciated to help fund the event.
